A Wisconsin teen spent the day in Washington Thursday to lobby for an expanded federal sex offender registry.

17 year old Amie Zyla of Sussex is a sexual assault victim who inspired the state law that allows police to notify communities of juvenile sex offenders. Wisconsin law previously kept juvenile criminal records private.

Zyla was eight when she was assaulted by Joshua Wade. His release from custody after serving a sentence was not disclosed and Wade re-offended. He'll be sentenced in August.

Congressman Mark Green of Green Bay has been working on a federal version of Amie's law. The bill would add juveniles convicted of sexual offenses to state databases.

Zyla will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security.
