You can chalk one up for teachers in the Madison school district. They have a new contract.
A tentative agreement was reached earlier this week between the district and the teacher's union. And Thursday night, Madison Teachers Inc. ratified the contract.
Under the agreement, a teacher's starting salary will increase $1,400. Teachers district wide will also see a four percent increase in pay and benefits.
Officials with MTI say they're satisfied with the contract, but they are concerned about assessments for early elementary students, as well as new class sizes for elementary art, music, and P.E.
The new contract goes into effect July 1st.
