Tight budgets and what she calls Wisconsin's "lack of commitment" to higher education is what drove UW–Madison's Dean of Students to look for a new job.
Dean Luoluo Hong resigned from UW to be the new Dean of Student Affairs for the west campus at Arizona State University in Glendale. Hong came to the UW-Madison in November of 2002.
She says Wisconsin spends more time making cuts than supporting students. That, and the UW's inability to provide benefits to domestic partners influenced her decision to leave.
Hong starts her new job in Arizona August 1.
