The plan to create a Department of Civil Rights in the city of Madison moves another step forward.
The proposal received bi–partisan support at the Board of Estimates meeting Monday night, passing easily on a four–to–one vote.
Last year, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz proposed combining the Affirmative Action Commission and the Equal Opportunities commission.
The full council will take final action on the proposal June 21st.
