The violence and the attacks continue in Iraq.
Now, that violence has claimed the life of another Wisconsin soldier. It's a somber landmark to report. 40 Wisconsin soldiers have now been killed in action in Iraq.
The United States Department of Defense announced Monday morning that Specialist Charles Kaufman, of Fairchild, died Sunday in Baghdad.
The Humvee Kaufman was in was the target of a bomb being carried in a passing car. The 20-year-old was assigned to the Army National Guard's First Battalion, 128th Infantry, based out of Eau Claire.
Kaufman is the second member of the 128th to die in Iraq. Staff Sergeant Todd Olson of Loyal was killed by a bomb while on foot patrol in Samarra, Iraq.
