Thursday, the music died at a popular downtown Madison music venue.
Luther's Blues has shut its doors.

Two restaurants in the same building — the Crescent City Grill and French Quarter Café — have also closed.

The businesses are run by GB'Z of Madison. The company reportedly had problems with high turnover and finances.

In a statement Thursday, owner Steve Murphy says, "It is important to the City to have a quality tenant or new building owner with the vision and commitment to once again make this location a vibrant, exciting part of the Madison area food and entertainment scene. Our goal is to have this completed by this fall." Murphy also says he is looking for interested tenants.

UW–Madison Campus Child Care Centers says its special program honoring UW Police will still take place as scheduled Thursday night at Luther's Blues. Doors open at 5 p.m., and tickets are $25.
