Leaders from Wisconsin and six other states are set to testify before the Base Realignment and Closing Commission in Saint Louis Monday.
The state leaders, including Governor Jim Doyle, are expected to challenge Pentagon recommendations to close down bases in their states.
Doyle will argue to keep open the 440th Airlift Wing at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport.
It was one of 33 major bases the Pentagon recommended closing in a plan to save an estimated 48 (B) billion dollars over the next 20 years.
The commission must turn in its recommendations on the Pentagon plan to President Bush by September.
