The Elver Park festivities began with a bang Monday morning.
The new Elver Park Fourth of July Family Fireworks Festival started with the Inaugural Firecracker Run–Walk.
Despite the rain, nearly 200 people pounded the pavement. "We had a little rain this morning but we got it in and everyone had a great time," says Jeff Tyler, vice president of Clear Channel Radio.
The full day festival also features food, free bingo, and root beer floats.
The event raises money for the Madison Parks Foundation, which maintains area parks.
Monday night's fireworks fly at 9:20.
