It took several hours, but Beloit police end a standoff with a man wanted in Illinois.
36-year-old Curtis Dowthard was wanted by Illinois authorities on a felony parole violation. He was holed up in a house with several people including children. Those children, and adults left the house over the course of the evening.
After throwing tear gas into the house, police went into the house about 12:30 a.m. It took about 45 minutes to find the suspect who was hiding inside some insulation in the attic of the house.
A second Illinois man was arrested at the same house earlier in the evening. 48-year-old Gregory Hansen is being charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
As for Curtis Dowthard, he's facing charges obstructing officers' attempts to take him into custody.
