Madison police make a push to protect pedestrians in the city's downtown.
In response to a number of complaints from residents city–wide, today the department's Traffic Enforcement Safety Team began placing plain–clothes officers at several downtown intersections, to catch vehicles that don't yield at pedestrian crossings.
Additional officers will watch from a distance, issuing tickets, when appropriate.
