You might say some local volunteers got to work on a homebuilding blitz Saturday.
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is putting up several more homes in this subdivision on Madison's southeast side. The assistant construction manager on the project says 12 families already live in habitat homes in this community.
A one story home in the neighborhood is a Women's Build. Lisa Delany from Habitat for Humanity says, "Since construction is generally a male dominated profession, it's just an opportunity to provide a place where women can come, know nothing and be able to swing a hammer and build a home for a family."
Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin joined the volunteers, along with a few NBC 15 News employees who exchanged their reporter notebooks for hammers and saws.
