Video will be available shortly

A disaster has a way of bringing out the best in people. And that's exactly what happened after the Dane County tornados.

The Dane County Department of Emergency Management says about 1,700 volunteers came out last weekend to assist residents in the affected areas.

Volunteers are no longer being actively recruited, but anyone interested in helping with storm clean up should report to the town halls in the affected areas.

The Salvation Army and American Red Cross are accepting donations of food and household items like diapers, clothing, and gift cards from Pick 'n Save, Main Street Market and Wal-Mart. Donations can be dropped off at Lakeview Church on Lincoln Road in Stoughton.
