A Sawyer County judge says the Minnesota man accused of killing six deer hunters last November is competent to stand trial.
Jury selections for 36-year-old Chai Vang will begin next week in Dane County. Vang will be tried on six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of attempted homicide. The judge in the case ordered the jury be picked outside Sawyer County due to a large amount of publicity on the incident there.
Prosecutors say Vang opened fire on a hunting party after some hunters confronted him for trespassing on their property. Vang says he acted in self defense.
