Wisconsin welcomed about 200 evacuees from New Orleans Thursday. 87 landed at General Mitchell Airport Thursday night, while more than 90 people arrived there earlier in the day.
The southerners landed at the 128th Air Refueling Wing near Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport. Governor Jim Doyle was on hand to welcome them personally in the afternoon.
Ronald Morris says it's just a coincidence that he was wearing a Brett Favre jersey when he arrived. "I just happened to put the jersey on because I like Brett Favre. I never knew I was coming to Milwaukee. But I'm glad I'm here.”
Many walked off the plane with just a garbage bag filled with personal belongings. The evacuees will be staying at the dorms at State Fair Park.
