The state is trying to provide some financial assistance for those evacuees. Some state benefits will be made available to them, including unemployment and food stamps.
The Department of Workforce Development is providing guidelines for how agencies should help them obtain welfare, unemployment, and other benefits.
So has the Department of Health and Family Services, which overseas the state's medical assistance and food stamps programs.
The state may be able to get reimbursed for the cost by the federal government.
