200 New Jobs Coming to Beloit

Video will be available shortly.

Staples, Inc. plans to open a new business to business distribution center in Beloit next year. The move means 200 new jobs will be coming to the city.

Governor Jim Doyle was in Beloit Wednesday morning to make the announcement. "We have worked hard to establish a favorable business climate in our state," Doyle said. "I am confident that Staples will find Beloit the best location for its continued expansion.

The new distribution center will encompass about 400,000 square feet. It will be built in the Gateway Business Park. The distribution center will support the company's business operations throughout the upper Midwest.

There were state and local incentives used to lure Staples to Beloit. The state Department of Commerce is giving Staples a $500,000 loan. The City of Beloit offered more than $3 million in Development Opportunity Zone income tax credits, along with $2.5 million in direct incentives.
