A baby removed from her feeding tube by her mother is back in the hospital.
Madison Police say a 21-year-old mother took the three month old out of the pediatric neo-natal ward and left St. Mary's Hospital on Tuesday night. The hospital says that put the baby in danger, because she couldn't eat without a feeding tube.
Police found the mother five hours later. She could face charges of Child neglect. Public Information Officer Mike Hanson with the Madison Police Department says, "We're working with the district attorney, the detectives and the hospital staff to learn this child's potential for either death or great bodily injury due to leaving the hospital."
St. Mary's hospital released a statement today saying it takes security issues seriously and it is reviewing how the mother was able to take the infant out of the hospital.
