Members from Wisconsin's National Guard are back at home after spending the past two weeks helping in the Gulf Coast.
Sixty guard members from across the state returned to Truax Field in Madison on Thursday afternoon. They spent about two weeks based at the Naval Air Station at Belle Chasse, Louisiana, near New Orleans.
A dozen different units sent guard members to try and help the area recover from Katrina. And those we talked to this afternoon say they and others made a difference. Company Commander, Scott Kulla, says, "What you could see is a gradual progression over two weeks of complete devastation moving into already a clean up."
Not everyone is home yet. A half dozen members of the 54th Civil Support Team will remain on duty. Also the Wisconsin Guards helicopter support will continue through the end of the month.
