GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A De Pere High School math teacher is accused of hitting a student in the face several times.

Thirty-six-year-old David Johnson is charged with disorderly conduct.

A criminal complaint says the male student told police other students pushed him into the door of Johnson's classroom in March. Johnson unlocked the door and asked if the student was knocking.

The boy says Johnson then stepped forward and struck him four or five times in the face with a closed fist while holding keys. The student's suffered a bloody nose and lip.

Johnson's attorney, Brian Maloney, says the teacher didn't intend to harm the student and that the event was an accident.

School Superintendent Ben Villarruel says Johnson is still a district employee and remains in the classroom.

Back in the (uncivilized) day domestic violence was ignored too. Many humans have evolved since then. Obviously not as many as I thought.

"The boy says Johnson then stepped forward and struck him four or five times in the face with a closed fist while holding keys. The student's suffered a bloody nose and lip." Accidently hit him four or five times with a closed fist....remembers to use this excuse should I ever get into a fight while attempting to be robbed in Madison!

Anonymous at 3:43. Bet your a student! Solve violence with violence? Sounds rather juvenile to me!!

How do "accidently" punch someone in the face multiple times? Maybe he should just plead "insanity". . .that seems to work well these days.

either way a teacher can not beat a student. Charged with DC???? if the student had hit the teacher it would be assault and battery and probaly a few other charges as well. its hard to believe he is still in the class room after hitting a kid. i hope that kids friends find him in the parking lot some night after class.

I'd bet a dollar to a dime that punk kid told him to "f" off after the teacher told him to stop screwing around.

I beleive that this teacher, Dave Johnson, is also the DePere Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.

I bet this is one of those kids that the parents don't dicipline and then they shove them into school and the kid says, "You can't touch me but I can do anything." The school district needs to do more to protect other kids and teachers from these types of monsters. They should be sent to kiddy jail at the parent's expense!

Anonymous, yes you would think he would have been charged with assault to a minor or battery. That's why I have to assume there is more to this story than being told!

LOL!!!Thats funny!! I don't quite understand the disorderly charge though. If he punched, isn't that a type of battery charge?

I agree with Pam, there seems to be something missing from this report. No way would any intelligent adult punch a student in the face. The way some of these kids are with their smart mouths, he probably mouthed off to the wrong person. Teacher... Not a job I would want or be able to handle!

I would like more details, the way kids are these days, are we hearing the whole story??? I am certainly not saying this teacher was at all justified, it just seems something is being left out here.

It sounds like the kid got the bloody lip and nose when his buddies pushed him into the door. I'm sure he's scarred for life. All teachers know if they lift a hand to a student it's the end of their career as they know it. Time to bring witnesses forward, enter court battle, unions, etc. and fire that teacher with pay :)

Ok, he hit this student repeatedly in the face with a closed fist, yet did not intend to hurt him? This was an accident? We believe that.... NOT!!
