Verona Area High School is one of the nation's top public high schools, reports Newsweek Magazine.

Verona is No. 808 on the list of the top 1,358 public high schools, slightly below the school's 2007 ranking of No. 785. Verona ranked No. 987 in 2006, reports the Capital Times.

Rufus King in Milwaukee ranked in at 209, the highest of Wisconsin high schools.

Other Wisconsin public high schools on the list include Marshfield at No. 426, New Berlin Eisenhower at 564, Whitefish Bay at 547, Grafton at 614, Hartland Arrowhead at 678, Brookfield Central at 680 and Brookfield East at 748.

Additionally, Shorewood ranked 925, West Allis Hale 971, Mequon Homestead 977, Central-Westosha in Salem 993, Cedarburg 1,019, Eau Claire Memorial 1,119, Riverside University in Milwaukee 1,170, West Bend West 1,206, Oak Creek 1,240, West Bend East 1,248 and New Berlin West ranked 1,289.

The rankings are based on a ratio of all students at a high school taking Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests in 2007, divided by the number of graduating seniors.
