UPDATE Posted Saturday, June 7 --- 12:10pm

BELOIT TOWNSHIP, Wis. (AP) -- Autopsy reports say it was carbon monoxide that killed a 70-year-old couple in their home this week in Beloit Township.

Officials say they still haven't determined the cause of the fire at the home of Carol and Paul Brom.

Town of Beloit Fire Department Lt. Al Cass says investigators haven't ruled out that the cause was electrical. But there's still no official determination.

He says the fire started in the lower level of the home near a loveseat and fire fighters didn't find working smoke detectors in the home.

After the fire erupted late Wednesday night, Carol Brom was taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Fire fighters found Paul Brom's body in the home.
