New Allergy Relief
UW Hospital is offering a new way some people can ease the pain of their allergies to dust.

It's that time of year again. Time for plenty of sneezing and stuffy noses. In fact allergy season is upon us.

While allergies affect different people in different ways, UW Researchers are looking for volunteers who have dust mite allergies to help them learn more about a new allergy treatment.

Dr. Robert Bush, a UW Hospital Allergist says SLIT is an allergy treatment that is as simple as a few daily drops of medicine under your tongue.

“Actually it's very simple. There's a little squeeze bottle with the patients squirt one or two or up to three sprays under their tongue, and then hold it in their mouth for 30 seconds to a minute and then they swallow. And that's all there is to it.”

The treatment must be administered daily and it may take several years to get full benefits and long term treatment.

If you'd like to participate, you need to be between the ages of 18 and 40, allergic to dust and not be receiving allergy shots.
