From the Governor's Office:

MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, will be “Milwaukee Brewers Day”, in honor of the Brewers first trip to the postseason since 1982. The Brewers face the Phillies in a best-of-five Major League Baseball National League Division Series.

“The Brewers performance, determination and teamwork epitomize the true meaning of sportsmanship and athleticism,” Governor Doyle said. “Today honors their tremendous achievement, which has made the state of Wisconsin, and fans nationwide, extremely proud.”

Governor Doyle and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell today also made a friendly wager on the match up between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies. Doyle offered up an assortment of Miller products, Wisconsin-made Klement’s Sausages and Secret Stadium Sauce, in the event the Phillies win the five-game series. Rendell wagered a selection of Yuengling Brewery Products and world famous Philadelphia cheesesteaks.

“Although I usually enjoy real Wisconsin cheese on my sandwich, I look forward to celebrating the Brewers victory with a tasty Philadelphia cheesesteak,” Governor Doyle said. “From dramatic walk-off home runs to dominant pitching performances, this has been the most exciting Milwaukee Brewer season in a quarter century and I am looking forward to a memorable October in Wisconsin.”

"Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have much in common, from the official state symbols that we share -- the white tailed deer and milk -- to our love of baseball," said Governor Rendell. "However, I am confident that our Phillies will be triumphant and I look forward to enjoying my Wisconsin gift basket, if only to find out what Secret Stadium Sauce tastes like.”

The Brewers finished the 2008 regular season with a 90-72 record, securing the National League wild card. Philadelphia finished 92-70, winning the National League East Division.

You know I am real sick of all these "so called" brewer fans!! I have been a fan my entire life, and have watched some of the worst baseball you can imagine. As I can remember there sure the hell weren't a lot of brewer fans when they stunk. Now all you fools hop on the band wagon and ar "true" brewer fans. Brewer day in wisconsin. Give me a break. To all you REAL FANS out there - enjoy this day you have waited for - and to all you phony fans who probably can't name the starting lineup, take off your brewer gear because you don't deserve to wear it, or be called a fan!
