(Madison, WI) This year will mark the 28th year that the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra will perform the Nutcracker Ballet with the Madison Ballet. The musicians of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) have agreed to perform the Nutcracker Ballet as planned this December while continuing contract negotiations.
Last week, the WCO and its musicians agreed to proceed with their popular Middleton Holiday Pops concert this Thanksgiving weekend.
“We are so pleased that Madison will hear the music of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra this holiday season” said Doug Gerhart, executive director of the WCO. “It’s clear that the WCO musicians share our common vision – to bring beautiful music to our audiences in an inspiring way. Andrew Sewell has created one of the finest chamber orchestras in the country, and we look forward to holidays filled with great music.”
The WCO will be performing their Middleton Holiday Pops concert on November 29th and 30th at the Madison Marriott West, and will be in the pit for the Nutcracker Ballet in Overture Hall from December 19-24th.
“Music has the power to uplift and heal the spirit” adds Gerhart, “and now, more than ever, people could use a little music in their lives. It’s a great way to celebrate the season. And, to make this concert more affordable for all families this Thanksgiving weekend, we have dramatically reduced ticket prices for our Holiday Pops concert.”
Ticket prices for theater-style seating start at $5 for children, $10 for students, $16 for seniors and $19 for adults. Premier and Cabaret tables are also available, and include dinner, brunch, pastries or desserts.
The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra will be joined by the Middleton High School Concert Choir November 29th at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 30th at 1:00 p.m. for their Holiday Pops concert at the Madison Marriott West. Highlights of the evening include Handel’s Messiah, Richman’s Hanukkah Festival Overture, and the highly anticipated return of The Snowman by Blake.
For single tickets, please call the Overture Center Box office at 258-4141, and for Premier or Cabaret tables, please call the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at 257-0638, or visit their website at www.wcoconcerts.org.
