The vehicle driven by two men missing for 45 years is now back on land.
Crews pulled the 1950 Ford Coupe from the bottom of Lake Waubesa this afternoon.
The car belonged to one of two men who disappeared in 1961 after a night out in Madison.
It was discovered a few weeks ago, and last week, divers retrieved the remains of the two men.
Police were initially considering leaving the 1950 Ford Coupe where it sat, but today, a barge carried the vehicle to shore, after a dive team used lift bags to bring it to the surface.
"It's a little morbid being down there, it's black water, you can't see anything, you're kind of by yourself, the family is usually here, or many of the family are here when we get back," said Jeff Nelson of the Dane County Sheriff's Office Dive Team
Nelson says it took the 7-member dive team a week and a half to prepare the scene and bring the car to the surface.
The dive team will continue a search of the site tomorrow. Boaters are still asked to avoid the cordoned-off area of the lake.
