UPDATE: Woman Killed in Crash Near Stoughton

A woman is dead after a crash on Highway 51 near Stoughton.

The crash itself involved only a car and a truck. Initial reports had said four vehicles were involved.

The female driver of the car is dead. A toddler was in that vehicle as well, but appears to be uninjured. The truck driver was not injured.

Highway 51 at Tower Drive is closed in both directions at this time.

Highway 51 is closed in both directions. Crews are redirecting traffic at the scene.

Dane Co. Dispatch says crews are responding to a 4-vehicle crash on Highway 51 at Tower Drive. That's near Stoughton.

The call came in at 1:27 p.m. Friday afternoon. Initial reports indicate the crash involves some type of garbage or recycling truck, a semi and two other vehicles. There are reports of possible injuries, but there's no other information at this time.

Drivers should avoid the area if they can.
