From the Cottage Grove Police Department:

Wednesday June 17, 2009 – At approximately 3:00am the Cottage Grove Police Department were called to the 600 block of Nightingale Lane in the Village of Cottage Grove for a report of possible theft in progress.

An alert neighbor observed two juveniles inside of vehicle and called police.

Prior to the police arriving, the suspects left in a vehicle. Police discovered three vehicles that had been entered and one vehicle that had items missing.

The suspects are described as two male whites in their late teens, both were thin build and were last seen leaving the area in a dark colored 2 door hatchback, similar to a Honda Civic.

The majority of the thefts from vehicles that have occurred in Cottage Grove during the past few months have been with vehicles that were left unlocked.

Please lock your vehicles and try to either park your vehicle in your garage or your driveway. You can also assist the police by leaving an exterior house light on.
