CrimeTracker 15: Prostitution Sting in Madison

Incident report from the Madison Police Department:
On Wednesday afternoon, December 16th, officers from the MPD's North and West Community Police Teams (CPTs) set up a sting inside a North District motel.
Officers identified around 25 online advertisements on backpage.com and craigslist.org where women were offering adult or escort services.
Telephone numbers on the advertisements were called and the requests were made for women to come to the motel.
An officer posing as a "John" was in one room, and an arrest processing area was set up in another.
CPT members ended up citing four women (see details below) a potential case against a fifth woman is under review.

Four women were cited for Loitering for the Purposes of Prostitution, a potential case against a fifth woman is under review.
The women are all from Madison and range in age from 18 to 33.

stupid- Then I would suggest helping that family member make better decisions! People need to take responsibility for their own actions and decisions. These women know the risks when they do this kind of thing. Should people do prositution? Of course not! But should we be taking resources to protect people from themselves? Should we have officers sitting o nthe computer on Craigslist luring people to motels? I don't think so. I'd rather have them out there catching drunk drivers who kill and maim people daily on our WI roadways that get slaps on the wrist. These women probably will get a stiffer sentence then a drunk driver and that's ridiculous. I support our police force, but I think we have more important crimes to focus on as the crime rate in this city and county is spiraling upward.
well just to let you know prostituion also leads to murder and inocent women getting kille when going to meet these so called johns so why dont you all just let the police do their jobs what if one of the women doing it was a family member of yours going into the hotel to meet some strange guy and never came back because she was killed by the man so i am glad it is illegal.!!!!!!
Right before Christmas, the police do not have anything better than to spoil some child's holiday by arresting his mother? Nice work Officer Ebenizer!
