Press Release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office:

On 02-08-2010 at 4:49pm, deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office along with Milton Police and Fire department, and Edgerton EMS responded to a two-vehicle injury traffic crash on E. STH 59 at E. County Highway N in Milton Township.

Law enforcement and EMS arrived on scene at 4:56pm, and found a 1994 Ford Taurus, driven by 21-year-old Michelle L. Slowey of Milton, in the eastbound lane of E STH 59. A second vehicle, a 1995 Toyota 4Runner driven by 21-year-old Brittany Kleinert of Edgerton, was found in the westbound lane on its passenger side.

Investigation at the scene showed both vehicles were eastbound on E. STH 59 at N. County Highway N. The 4Runner, driven by Kleinert, was stopped waiting to make a left turn onto County Highway N, when Slowey who was driving the Taurus struck her from behind. Kleinert’s vehicle overturned onto its passenger side and came to rest in the westbound lane of E. STH 59. Slowey’s vehicle spun 180 degrees and came to rest facing westbound in the eastbound lane of E. STH 59.

Milton Fire extracted Slowey from her vehicle and was transported by MED FLIGHT Helicopter to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. As a result of the accident, E. STH 59 was closed requiring traffic to be rerouted for approximately 90 minuets. Speed and alcohol were not suspected as contributing factors, however the crash is still under investigation. At the time of this release no charges or citations were issued. Further press releases will be made available when the investigation is complete.
