86-year-old dies in Rock Co. Crash

Rock Co. deputies were called to Highway 11 and Dunbar Road in the Town of Plymouth for a two-vehicle traffic accident with injury.

Deputies and emergency medical service personnel removed a 69-year-old South Wayne, Wisconsin man from a Freightliner, designed to transport grain. The man suffered a head injury and was transported to Janesville Mercy Hospital.

The second vehicle involved had an 86-year-old Edgerton man, who was found dead inside.

Preliminary reports found the The Freightliner was eastbound on Highway 11 when the driver tried to swerve to avoid colliding with the 86-year-old, who had crossed over the centerline.

Highway 11 was closed for several hours for investigative and vehicle removal purposes. The roadway where the collision occurred was clear of snow and ice, however, strong winds were prevalent.
