Details:
At approximately 12:46 AM, Madison Police were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Lake Street reference allegations of a sexual assault.

After police arrived on scene, allegations by a 33-year-old female involved the entourage of Joseph Cartagena (AKA “Fat Joe”), after a hip hop concert at the Orpheum Theater on 6/20/2010.

The concert started at 7pm at The Orpheum Theater (located at 216 State Street), and shortly after the concert had concluded, a 33-year-old female found herself inside of a Cadillac Limousine with Joseph Cartagena and other male subjects all with the destination of a hotel located on Madison’s west side.

This investigation is ongoing.

Details are continuing to be developed in this matter.

Cartagena was questioned along with others in his entourage.

Detectives briefly detained subjects involved in this matter, and released parties after interviews were completed.

Sheepdog, It could not of been said any better. My concern is that because of all the harsh words aimed at the victim the next woman who finds herself in this situation will not speak up. As human-beings we should all expect a degree of personal safety and respect and that conduct goes both ways. 3 out of 5 women you know will of been sexually assaulted by the time they reach 18, none of us ask for it. But society still tolerates the mistreatment of women and blaming us for our assault just by being "there". I have a son and he is being brought up to honor and respect and protect women, he has good role models in women as well as the men he associates with. I do this with the hope that if he had been in that car he would of stopped the conduct of those men and done the right thing.

"I think she is lying first off why were you in the limo with them come on now let me guess next we are going to hear a lawsuit was filed and she wants a large amount of money. FAT JOE IS NOT A RAPIST!!!" NOR IS HE A RAPPER. He sucks!

jennifer, I'm saddened that it has happened to you. You were not partially to blame, and shame on you for even thinking you were. At 15, you would not have the right to carry an adult burden, anyway. That's what parents are for. Clearly Evident, I'm not too far from your thoughts. I believe we all have not only the right, but the moral duty to protect ourselves in any way necessary depending on the situation. Part of that is recognizing and avoiding bad situations. But once the decision is made, if you are attacked it is not at all your fault you are being attacked. Could you have avoided it? Probably; but that doesn't change that no one has the right to initiate an attack on you for any reason.

Well, I must say it is heart breaking to hear that people are still allowing themselves to be put in certain situations. It does not excuse what may or may not have happened to this women. I hope people understand what the expectations are and make it clear before the situation gets out of control.

sheepdog: you crack me up. what makes you so sure that it has not happened to me? it did.....i was partially to blame because i put myself in a situation that i shouldn't have. i wasn't 33 years old though.....i was 15...i wish my mom would have shared those words with me. i never said she "asked for it" i said she should have known what the expectation was.....i agree... no means no....but....unfortunately there are a lot of deaf folks out there that can't hear that word.

It's personal responsibility Jennifer. Hers, the men's, even your own. In a society that puts such importance on "being famous" it's sadly easy to see why some women put themselves in this situation. The one thing you NEVER do is blame the victim. A news blurb is not enough, we don't know all the facts and should withhold judgement until that changes. The one thing Jenny got right, is don't get into a strangers car or limo......No matter who the aggressor is report assult.

Sad story, But once again another women playing the victim, or should i say an ignorant women (33 yrs old) you would think she would know better.dosnt she see the news or read newspapers? seems too me just another women trying to make a dollar from someone that already has some. These women give smart good women a bad name. And thats the bottom line, I would see it diffrent if she was a minor but 33 years old. shame on you!

jennifer, I hope it doesn't happen, but if you're ever attacked, and your attacker's attorney says you asked for it because of where you were, or perhaps what you were wearing, you make sure to remember what you wrote here. Sound good? I don't care what you portray the facts to be, the ONLY person at fault is the person doing the attacking. Period, and end of story.
