UPDATE: Triple-Fatal Wood County Fire Appears Accidental

UPDATED Thursday, January 31, 2013 --- 11:50 a.m.

TOWN OF SIGEL, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities in central Wisconsin say they don't suspect foul play following a house fire in the Town of Sigel this week that killed three family members.

The Wood County sheriff's department says Wednesday's fire apparently started around the garage. They say the blaze appears to have been accidental.

The victims were identified Thursday as 79-year-old William J. Heiser Sr.; 71-year-old Janet M. Heiser; and their son, 38-year-old William J. Heiser Jr.

The fire was reported Wednesday about 2:30 a.m. Fire officials who responded found the house engulfed in flames.

TOWN OF SIGEL, Wis. (AP) -- The Wood County coroner says three family members have died in a house fire in the Town of Sigel.

Coroner Garry Kronstedt says an elderly couple and their adult son were killed in the early morning fire Wednesday. The sheriff's office says the victims were a 79-year-old man, a 72-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man.

Area fire departments were called to the house that was engulfed in flames about 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters from Vesper, Pittsville, Arpin, Rudolph, Grand Rapids, Nekoosa and Port Edwards responded to the house fire.

The sheriff's office says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Names of the victims won't be released until relatives are notified.

Coroner Garry Kronstedt says the bodies of the victims have been taken to a funeral home in Wisconsin Rapids. Kronstedt says he doesn't yet know if the victims are male or female or their ages.

Firefighters from Vesper, Pittsville, Arpin, Rudolph, Grand Rapids, Nekoosa and Port Edwards responded to the house fire.

Sheriff Thomas Reichert says a search continues in the burned house for other possible victims. Area fire departments were called to the house that was engulfed in flames about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Reichert says the fire has been extinguished. Firefighters from Vesper, Pittsville, Arpin, Rudolph, Grand Rapids, Nekoosa and Port Edwards responded.
