Drunk Driver Arrested After Hit and Run Crash

Arrested: Thomas P. McGinley, 48-year-old male of Madison, WI

CHARGES: Operating While Intoxicated, Operating With A Prohibited Alcohol Content, Hit & Run Of Attended Vehicle, Operating After Suspension and Failure To Yield

Details: On 12/27/2012, at approximately 1:25pm, officers responded to the intersection of Troy Drive and Northport Drive reference an accident that had occurred. Police were also advised the suspect vehicle had just fled, but a license plate and description of a silver Pontiac were able to be given to the responding officers. The suspect vehicle was located a few blocks away, and officers contacted the driver Thomas McGinley. McGinley was offered the opportunity to perform field sobriety tests, but he refused and stated that he wanted to go into his apartment and go to sleep.

The investigation revealed that McGinley turned in front of oncoming traffic, and that created the accident. The officers also discovered that McGinley was intoxicated, and he was taken into custody. A blood alcohol content of .22 played a significant role in the driving behavior of McGinley, and he was conveyed to the Dane County Jail on listed charges.

    Yeah, I know. I would be real dissapointed if I worked with a guy who just got his 5th one and caused an accident in the process and he only got a year in Huber and still gets to go to work everyday. Oh wait, that's how it works in Wisconsin

    Chheezzz.....a driver who was operating his motor vehicle while....intoxicated.....my...my....sure glad this type of behavior isn't a common everyday occurance her in Wisconsin.......
