Press Release from Edgewood High School:

Edgewood High School’s Board of Trustees president Londa Dewey, in conjunction with the Corporate Members of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation, announced Michael Elliott will become the fifth President of the school, effective July 1.  Elliott will begin working in April to effect an orderly transition of responsibilities by the end of the school year.

Elliott brings to Edgewood a deep understanding of and passion for the Edgewood mission, proven leadership, business acumen, and vision for the future.  Elliott, his wife Sue and his three daughters are EHS alumni.  He is a past Chair of the board of trustees and was instrumental in working with the staff, current president Judd Schemmel, and the board to increase enrollment and develop a sustainable mission-based operation plan.

Elliott has worked for Madison-based Suttle-Straus Printing for over 30 years, successfully holding numerous senior leadership, general management and sales management roles.  A lifelong Madisonian, he has contributed significantly to the community beyond Edgewood High School and his professional career, leading multiple Madison-area organizations, as well as serving as past president of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish. He is also a long-time member of the Madison Advertising Federation and the Knights of Columbus.
Elliott's appointment is the culmination of a nine-month search process.  The nationwide process produced numerous, outstanding candidates.

“More than 250 individuals in the EHS community provided input to the president search committee on key attributes sought in the next President, and the committee's search remained grounded in that initial guidance,” Dewey commented.

“The significant interest in this role from many qualified candidates speaks to the value of Edgewood High School to so many in the greater Madison community,” continued Dewey.  “We are profoundly grateful to Judd Schemmel for his outstanding contributions to EHS from 2005-2013 and for welcoming and assisting Mike as he assumes the President role, and we're confident and proud Mike Elliott will build on Edgewood High School’s substantial value to and legacy in our community.”

Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart is in its 132st year providing a Dominican Catholic education in a motivating, supportive community. Edgewood’s rigorous curriculum emphasizes truth, compassion, justice, partnership and community. This year, 43% of EHS students will receive financial aid up to 65% of tuition, totaling $700,000. One quarter of EHS students take advantage of EHS programs assisting with learning disabilities or challenges, and 95% or more of graduates go on to post-secondary education each year. Over the last five years, EHS graduates were admitted to 85 of the top 100 colleges in the U.S., including nine of the top ten.
