The Dane county Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of the motorcyclist that died in the crash on the Beltline early Sunday morning.
21-year-old Joshua A. Simons of Waterford was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner's report indicates Simons' death was the direct result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office and Monona Police.

Monona and Madison Police, and State Patrol have made a thorough investigation regarding the accident. The driver of the motorcycle was going at very high speeds, and lost control after changing lanes and striking the rear of another vehicle.
The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The identity of the driver is being held pending notification of family members.
Nobody else was injured in the crash.

One man is dead after a motorcycle crash that closed down part of the Beltline for nearly four hours.
It happened around 12:40 Sunday morning on the westbound side of the Beltline at Monona Drive.
Madison Police, Monona Police, and Monona Fire Departments responded to the motorcycle crash.
No other vehicles were involved in that one official at the scene called "an obvious death" situation.
Traffic was rerouted in that area until about 4:15 a.m. The name of the driver has not been released.
