UDPATE: Fire Damages House In Black Earth

UPDATED: Sunday, November 11, 2012 -- 7:30 a.m

Information from the Dane County Sheriff's Department:

At approximately 3:12 a.m., a Dane County Sheriff’s deputy, while on patrol, observed fire and smoke coming from a vacant home at 1235 Mills St., in the Village of Black Earth. The home was immediately checked with no one inside.

Fire departments from Black Earth, Mazomanie, Mt. Horeb, Cross Plains, and District 1 EMS responded to the fire. The fire damage was limited to the front porch and roof area of the home. The preliminary investigation indicates an electrical issue caused the fire.

There were no injuries. Damage estimates are unknown at this time. The fire remains under investigation.

A fire damages a house in Black Earth.

Crews were called around 3 a.m. Sunday morning to the 1200-block of Mills Street. Flames and smoke were visible when firefighters arrived.

Dane County officials say no one was inside the house. The fire is now out and there's no word on damages or the cause.
