Gov. Walker Asks To Extradite Local Murder Suspect

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has asked his counterpart in Washington state to return a prisoner wanted for killing his half-brother to Wisconsin.

Dane County prosecutors have charged Jeffrey Vogelsberg with killing Matthew Graville in their Mazomanie home in July. Authorities arrested Vogelsberg last month in Washington state. He had moved there to be with his wife, who is stationed at a military base near Tacoma.

Vogelsberg has refused to waive extradition. A Walker spokeswoman says the governor's office on Friday sent Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire a rendition warrant, a request for Gregoire to transfer Vogelsberg back to Wisconsin.

A Gregoire spokesman says she has never denied such a request.
