Pam Burrill moved to Boscobel from Florida after she retired. She wanted to be closer to her family. Now, her wish has come true. Living on just her social security check, which is less than $900 per month, Burrill has been forced to move in with her two sons.

To make ends meet Burrill uses the North Grant County Food Pantry.
She and her son John also work at the pantry as volunteers. But their hours have been reduced because the pantry is $4,000 in debt.

The need for funding couldn't come at a worse time considering there's a growing need in the community for food. In October of 2010 367 families were served by the food pantry. Compare that to October of 2012, there were 620. That's up 253 families.

" There's no jobs. People are being laid off left and right, " says Sandra Farrington. " Normally we service up to 7-days and we can't do that now because it's just not here. "

Farrington and her husband Gale are the pantry's volunteer coordinators. They say the lack of funding doesn't just mean they have to close up shop early it also means they have less food. They're down about 19,000 lbs vs 2011.

If things don't change soon some of the people who rely on the pantry for help, and are already desperate, may have to look elsewhere.

If you're interested in donating to the pantry you can contact them at:
