Press Release from the Green Co. Sheriff's Department:
At approximately 5:56 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Green County jail deputies discovered that a male inmate in his individual cell was unresponsive and not breathing. Deputies began lifesaving measures and Monroe EMS and First Response personnel were dispatched to the jail. Emergency responders were unable to revive the inmate and he was pronounced dead at the jail by Green County Coroner Kris Hasse.
At the time of this release, the cause of the inmate's death has not been determined and is under investigation. Because the individual was an inmate of the Green County Jail, Monroe Police were requested to complete an independent investigation of his death. An autopsy has been scheduled and additional details are pending the results of the investigation. The inmate's name, age and details regarding his incarceration are being withheld pending notification of relatives and will likely be released sometime Thursday morning.
