From NBC15's Tim Elliott:

Last December, we introduced you to Aly Wolff (pictured far right) from McFarland in a Tim's Travels segment.

For almost a year, Aly battled cancer. After hearing of her diagnosis, Aly's friends began a social media blitz called #BiebsMeetAly. It took off on Twitter and Facebook and eventually, Aly met Justin Bieber at his concert in Chicago.

Aly fought hard but yesterday, she lost her battle with cancer. Aly was just 20-years-old. Our condolences go out to Aly's family and friends.

A local effort to make one girl's dream come true is spreading all over the world.

19-year-old Aly Wolff from Mcfarland was diagnosed with liver cancer halfway through her freshman year at UW-Oshkosh.

"It's been pretty hard just because you never feel 100 percent ever," Wolff said.

To cheer her up, Aly's friend Ariel Arneson started the Facebook page "Biebs Meet Aly" less than a week ago.

Now, their Facebook page has more than 11,000 likes. Support has been pouring in from all over the world.

"Even if things don't work out with Justin I have a lot to be thankful for and be happy about," Wolff said.

To help Aly accomplish her goal of meeting Bieber, all you need to do is go on Facebook and Twitter and use the hashtag "#biebsmeetaly"

The girls are going to Bieber's concert on Saturday in Chicago and hope to meet him then.

Our hearts are heavy after hearing of the passing of Aly. What a strong, courageous and determined young woman. She has had such an impact on alot of people. I personally did not know her but as so as the BiebsmeetAly started on Facebook, I was constantly checking to see how things were going for her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, the McFarland community and everyone else who knew this wonderful woman. May she rest in peace. God bless you all.
