Three locals tell investigators they accepted marijuana shipped in the mail from a dispensary in California.
Randall Alewine, Anthony Schabow, and Justin Bergeron all face felony drug charges for what they say were six shipments they accepted in Clinton, near Beloit, from one of their friends who works out west.
According to court documents, police first discovered the operation when a dog identified a suspicious package at the Post Office distribution center in Madison earlier this month. Testing determined the 1,994 gram package contained marijuana, but officials still allowed the delivery. Although fake names were listed on the package, the address and subsequent deliveries led to the suspects.
Some of them are due back in court early next month.
