Madison Police say a detective identified two suspects in a recent burglary after he saw surveillance images of the criminals. The detective had previously investigated an armed robbery case in 2012 that the men had been arrested for.
The two men are accused of breaking into a Dryden Drive apartment building early Monday morning. Once inside, Police say they broke out windows of a truck and car parked in the underground garage. The pair rifled through some vehicles and fled when a car alarm went off.
A case detective looked at the surveillance photos and recognized the two men from the 2012 case. Both were taken into custody.
Derrick Shelton and Evander Bass, both 22, were arrested for probation violations. Police will be requesting each be charged with burglary, entry into locked vehicles and damage to property.
