A man dressed as Santa Claus was arrested Saturday night for allegedly driving drunk and injuring a Dane County deputy.
Dane County authorities say it happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night on County Highway K just east of County Highway Q in the Town of Westport. A Dane County deputy was parked on the side of the road in an SUV trying to slow traffic after a previous crash investigation. That's when another car rear-ended the SUV with the deputy inside.
The deputy was assessed by EMS and did sustained minor injures.
The driver, John B. Schuster, age 69 of Waunakee was dressed as Santa Claus and was returning home from a holiday party at the American Legion in the Town of Westport.
Schuster was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 4th Offense.
