MENASHA, Wis. (AP) -- Two Menasha women convicted of stealing a freshly killed deer last fall and running it over with their car to break its antlers have each been fined over $2,000.

A Post-Crescent of Appleton report (http://post.cr/X0QEix ) this week says a hunter stopped at a local tavern Nov. 21 with the deer in his truck. He ended up having an argument with the two women there.

Authorities say the women decided to get back at him by driving over the eight-point buck. But the deer got caught under their car, and they dragged it down the road until they realized something wasn't right.

They called a friend, who helped them throw it into a river.

The women were each fined about $2,150 for stealing wild game. The friend was fined about $260.
