On Saturday, November 24, 2012, approximately 3:24pm, Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputies and Officers from the Town of East Troy Police Department responded to a report of a plane crash.
This crash occurred on a privately-maintained grass airstrip known as Air Troy Estates.
It is located off of Sky Lane in the Town of East Troy. Many residents who reside in this community have planes and hangars adjacent to the runway.
Upon arrival, first responders found a downed plane on the runway and a lone male occupant in the aircraft. He had to be extricated from the plane.
This man is identified as Ronald G Scott, age 79, of East Troy, WI. He was taken by East Troy Ambulance to a Waukesha Hospital with head injuries.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and the FAA are coordinating this investigation. His condition is not known at this time.
Scott was attempting to land his plane on the runway when he crashed.
Scott was flying an experimental 1969 Scottbuilt (he designed and built this plane) fixed wing XS-1 known as “Old Iron Sides”.
