A young woman is in the hospital after getting hit by a drunk driver in downtown Madison Sunday morning.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of East Johnson and Broom Street. Madison police say the 21-year-old woman was crossing illegally when a car with a green light hit her. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was later cited for "Sudden Pedestrian Movement."

The 42-year-old driver was also charged with drunk driving. It was her first OWI.
