UPDATE: Deputies find driver after hit and run crash

UPDATED Thursday, July 11, 2013 --- 3:43 p.m.

Dane Co. deputies say they have found the driver that fled an early Thursday morning crash in the town of Sun Prairie.

He is identified as 41-year-old Matthew Smith of Sun Prairie. He has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say Smith was found lying near a creek about 1.25 miles from the original crash scene on Highway T.

Smith will be cited for Operating Left of Center and Failure to Report a Crash. Possible criminal charges include Hit and Run, Causing Injury and Obstructing.

Police in Dane County are looking for a person after a head-on collision early this morning in Sun Prairie. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Highway-T near Town Hall Drive.

The driver of one of the vehicles was hurt but the extent of those injuries are unknown. Police say the driver of the second car fled the scene. Only two people were involved in the accident.
