Release from Columbia County Sheriff's Department:
On November 1, 2012 the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office completed the death investigation into the death of Cody L. Weideman.
Cody L. Weideman, age 25 of rural Portage was found dead at his home on June 3, 2012. The investigation showed that he died from a drug overdose, specifically being heroin toxicity. As a result of the investigation, Thomas A. Holtan age 35 of Portage was arrested for First Degree Reckless Homicide. Thomas A. Holtan is suspected of being a heroin dealer who supplied Cody Weideman with the heroin that caused his death.
Thomas A. Holtan is in the Columbia County Jail and should make his initial appearance in Columbia County Circuit Court on November 2, 2012.
