MADISON, Wis. (AP) — President Barack Obama will visit Master Lock in Milwaukee on Wednesday. A White House official announced the location of the president's visit yesterday. The official says Obama plans to discuss the importance of American manufacturing at a company that recently returned some jobs that had previously been relocated to China.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican leader of the state Senate said yesterday that he expects recall elections to proceed against three of his colleagues. Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald was the only one of the four who clearly challenged more than enough signatures to avoid a recall election. The other GOP state senators are Pam Galloway of Wausau, Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls and Van Wanggaard of Racine.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Milwaukee's mayor says he opposes using a one-time national mortgage settlement towards shrinking the state's $143 million budget shortfall. Tom Barrett told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a story published yesterday that none of the $140 million awarded to Wisconsin to help victims of foreclosure abuse should go toward the state budget. The allocation decision was announced by Governor Scott Walker at a news conference on Thursday.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The IndyCar Series is returning to the Milwaukee Mile. A marketing company led by former Indy driver and current team owner Michael Andretti announced yesterday it will promote a race weekend at the historic one-mile oval June 15th through 16th. The race will be held that Saturday afternoon.
