OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- More than half of the faculty and professional academic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh are getting raises averaging about $2,600.
A memo sent to employees Wednesday says the raises for 369 university employees will cost the state's third largest university about $962,000. The remaining 319 faculty and staff will get a 1 percent pay increase that's being given to all state employees.
Chancellor Richard Wells tells Oshkosh Northwestern Media that salaries for faculty at his university are 18 percent behind the average salary of comparable peers across the Midwest. Wells says it's a huge issue in terms of being able to attract and retain talented educators.
